Luna Luna was curated by Andre Heller as a traveling amusement park of contemporary art. As general planner, Markus Ostertag developed walk-in sculptures, labyrinths, pavilions, stages, and a restaurant based on the artists' designs. In addition to artistic implementation, ease of assembly and transportability were important criteria. The result was a carousel with figures by Keith Haring, a gate by Sonia Delauney, a Ferris wheel by Jean-Michel Basquiat, an “Enchanted Tree” by David Hockney, and many other attractions. More than 300,000 people visited Luna Luna during its seven-week run in Hamburg.
