Heiligenstadt Station was designed by Otto Wagner, opened in 1898, and is a listed building. The extensive renovation and modernization measures between 2006 and 2008 were carried out in close cooperation with the Federal Monuments Office and aimed to restore the characteristics of Otto Wagner's listed building, further develop the historic building structures to meet contemporary mobility requirements, and turn the station into a bright, lively place. Around 28,000 passengers use the Heiligenstadt transport hub every day.
