Office Building Schanzstraße

Office Building Schanzstraße

Vienna, Austria

PERIOD:

2015 - 2018

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The industrial building on Schanzstrasse, Vienna, built by architect Michael Rosenauer in 1926-1927, was built as a storage and administration facility for the Vienna Doretheum, and sits in contrast to an adjacent municipal housing development. Its distinctive style offers rare insight into the architectural zeitgeist of the era and remains an outstanding historical benchmark.

The building will be revitalized after many years of being unoccupied. With the utmost attentiveness, the characteristics of this historically protected object will be reanimated. In addition to the renovation of the building, the goal is to transpose it into a comprehensive and curated utilization concept, a sustainable enrichment to its surroundings.
